May 3 2011.

Here is what is blooming in my gardens this week…

This pathway has several warm tones that make a pleasant walk-way through a part of the front gardens. The emerging peony shoots are in a very pretty warm reddish-brown tone that works well with the new flowers on the plant at its base. It is Polemonium ‘Stairway To Heaven’ and it has tiny soft pink flowers that begin to bloom right when the peony is starting to unfold its reddish-pink leaves.

Also, the leaves of the Bergenia, in the forefront by the rock, have still got their winter red edges.

A closr look at the same two plants.

Another repetition of the same plants, but planted just a little closer to the large rock that shelters some other favourites.

Nearby, this Rhododendron ‘Odee Wright’ starts out with very colourful buds which quickly lighten to a warm cream colour.

As it continues to open, this Rhododendron ‘Odee Wright’ changes to a less strong peachy colour which blends so well with the emerging peony leaves that are quickly pushing up all around this part of the garden.
